Malaysia team win hearts

On top of winning the Malaysia first podium placing, Mercurial Ace from SMK Convent Bukit Nanas showed that winning is also about values and the heart, landing them with the Outstanding Sportsmanship Award, an award specially made for them, at the F1 in Schools World Championship 2007 at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.

This demonstrates the values of the programme, in which students not only learn about technical and scientific knowledge but also various soft skills and wholesome values, in conjuction with the Ministry of Education's mission to generate wholistic and quality human resources for the future.

The special award was given in recognition of Mercurial Ace's commendable effort when they stepped up to assist another international team who have lost their luggage during flight by lending them Mercurial Ace's custom-made SIRIM wheels.

The team, with Zawanah Zianah Zaharen as Graphic Designer, Sheela Ratnam as Design Engineer, Lee Pay Herng as Manufacturing Engineer, Cheryl Khoo Mei Hsiang as Resource Manager along with Pn Tan Shim Yu as Advising Teacher were overwhelmed with their success.

This was of course a sweet addition to Malaysia in her first podium place in history, with a speed of 1.055secs/20m,  topping last year's world record by another Malaysian team, Aero Breaker from SMK Taman Melawati.
